The trip takes you from sprawling Santiago through the foothills of the Andes and finally, climbing the winding road to Valle Nevado. The Santiago International Airport is 37 miles from Valle Nevado and usually requires about 1.5 hours.

Helicopter Transfers

For the ultimate in speed an luxury, a private helicopter will whisk you from the Santiago airport to Valle Nevado, turning an hour and a half drive into a hop, skip and a jump. Helicopters allow 1-4 passengers at a rate of $1,500 each way.

 

The Road to Valle Nevado

Weekends and Holidays, all travel on the road from Santiago to Valle Nevaod is one-way only, alternating morning and evening. This allows the narrow road to safely accommodate the morning and afternoon traffic flow.

 

Santiago to Valle Nevado (Ascending) - 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM. In order to ascend before 1:30, flights should be scheduled to arrive prior to 10:30 AM.

 

Valle Nevado to Santiago (Descending) - Depart Valle Nevado before 6:00 AM or after 4:00 PM. Evening flights should be scheduled to depart after 6:00 PM.

 

There are no restrictions on weekdays, except when it is a local holiday.

 

Should you be delayed, you may be required to wait until the evening when uphill traffic is allowed again. Spend the day exploring Santiago.

 

Road Closure - Though well maintained by the Chilean Ministry of Public Works, snow storms can and do cause the road to close. Valle Nevado Ski Resort is not responsible for the condition of the road. All guests should be aware that the possibility exists for road closures to prevent access to or exit from the resort. There are financial obligations involved. Your vacation purchase is considered by Valle Nevado to be consent to these obligations

 

Guests who are unable to drive up to Valle Nevado while the road is closed will be directly responsible for their accommodation and other expenses in Santiago or elsewhere. The nights that are not used at Valle Nevado will be credited to their accounts. Guests will be able to choose whether to transfer the credit to their extra services account (ski lessons, bar bills, etc.) or use the credit toward a future reservation within the same season.

 

Guests who are unable to descend from Valle Nevado and must spend the night in the resort will be charged the full rate for their first night's accommodation. However, beginning the second night, a 50% discount is applied to the normal rate.
